In the consignment model, an EMS provider’s revenue includes only the value-added in assembly, but not the cost of components. Opposite of “Turnkey” model which is an outsourcing model, turning all aspects of electronics manufacturing over to an EMS provider, who buys the raw materials and components and bills the OEM for a complete assembly.
