The mission of the
Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
is to safeguard controlled
goods and/or technology and
to prevent the proliferation
of weapons of mass
destruction and conventional
weapons. This is achieved by
regulating and controlling
the examination, possession,
and transfer in Canada of
controlled goods and/or
controlled technology
through registration,
inspection and outreach
activities. Registration
under the CGP is legally
required for anyone who
examines or possesses
controlled goods and/or
controlled technology in
Canada. Proof of
registration is also
required for legal transfer
of controlled goods and/or
controlled technology.
Export permits cannot be
issued for controlled goods
and/or controlled technology
unless the CGP registration
is approved. Guardian’s
Certificate of Registration
from the Controlled Goods
Directorate was issued in
June 2007.
